After growing up together since middle school, Danielle and Kurt decided to tie the knot on a gorgeous summer day near a beach off the historic East Coast. From the navy blue, mismatched bridesmaid dresses to the stunning and vibrant decor, their wedding day was romantic, personal, and had the perfect amount of pink to make Danielle’s dream day come true.

Details from the proposal to choosing mismatched bridesmaid dresses.
Q. How did Kurt pop the question?
A. Kurt proposed on December 21, 2012, right before we went home to our families for Christmas. He brought me outside within the Boston Common and popped the question! He explained that December 21 was the start of the winter solstice, meaning that each day after that would begin to be brighter, just like our relationship and our lives together.
Q. Tell us about your wedding day.
A. When I woke up, it was a gorgeous, bright day—there was no rain in the forecast. When it was finally time to walk down the aisle I was never more ready for anything in my life. Having the opportunity to have the most important people in my life in one place at the same time was something that I never thought possible. Our day was incredible because of everyone that was there to help us celebrate it.
Q. What was your favorite moment from the wedding day?
A. My favorite moment was probably in the beginning of our ceremony. We were married on the lawn right near a beach, so many people stood around looking on, and cars drove by as they finished their day by the sea. One car drove by and someone leaned out of their car and yelled, "GOOD FOR YOU!" The ceremony momentarily stopped and everyone had a good laugh.
Q. Why did you choose Kennedy Blue mismatched bridesmaid dresses for your girls?
A. Kennedy Blue was an easy option for us because each one of my six bridesmaids lived in a different portion of the country- from Massachusetts to Los Angeles. With theKennedy Blue Find-Try-Buy program we were able to send a few of the dresses to their homes, have a live video chat while the girls tried them on, and then allowed each girl to choose their own bridesmaid gown.
Q. How did you choose the venue for your stunning East Coast wedding?
A. We chose the venue because it was a place that I had grown up near my entire life. When I passed through this venue when I was little, I always thought that the girls in white were princesses that lived there. As I grew up, I understood the idea of a wedding and decided very early on that it would be the ideal place to say “I do.”
Q. What part of planning did you enjoy the most and why?
A. Kurt thinks that the best part of planning was all of the post wedding planning we did. Our wedding was on a Friday, which allowed for us to spend the entire following day at the beach with all of our friends and family. We ate, drank, and played volleyball and a ton of other fun yard games. I even put my dress on again to party in!
Q. What advice would you give to other brides?
A. My advice would be to make sure you never stray from what you want. You will get a lot of opinions or a lot of pressure from those around you to do certain things, but make sure you stay true to yourself and do what you believe in. You only get one day and you deserve for it to be exactly how you imagined!
