A Traditional Wedding Dress for a Memorable Day

From the bright pops of purple and a downtown venue, to the dance-off competition and kissing game at the reception, this couple's lively and loveable personalities came out in every aspect of their day. Jaimie and Jason's St. Paul wedding perfectly combined an elegant mix of classic and modern elements to suit their personal style. Jaimie's traditional Kennedy Blue wedding dress took center stage and gorgeously complemented her purple bridesmaid dresses. From the proposal to choosing a traditional wedding dress.

Q. How did he pop the big question?
A. It was a frosty December evening and we were in downtown St. Paul to meet a friend for dinner. Our friend was "running late" so we decided to view Rice Park's beautiful holiday lights and festive decor with our extra time. Strolling throughout the park, we came upon a giant Christmas tree glowing with lights. It was there that he dropped to one knee and asked the question I had waited seven years to hear--and I said yes.

Q. What was your favorite part about the wedding day and why?
A. It came as a complete surprise, but walking down the aisle was one of the most memorable parts. As the doors opened and our music swelled into a grand, dramatic melody, I was completely stunned seeing all of our loved ones stand with such heartwarming smiles. However, the absolute best part of the day was finally reaching the end of the aisle to take arms with my handsome groom.

Q. What made you choose your Kennedy Blue bridal gown?
A. One word: pockets! I was looking for a traditional wedding dress that was romantic, lacey, and definitely something I could dance in. I chose the Carolyn gown because it combined lace, fun pockets, and a soft organza skirt that was unbelievably fun to swish, twirl, and dance in.

Q. Why did you choose Kennedy Blue bridesmaid dresses?
A. I gave my four bridesmaids free reign in choosing their dresses, so long as it was purple and floor length. Kennedy Blue's eggplant was rich, lively, and within minutes all my girls were trying on the Stella bridesmaid dress and they loved the unique neckline and flowing material. Did I mention this dress also has pockets?

Q. What part of planning did you find to be the most difficult and why?
A. The Type-A side of me loved every minute of planning, but the most challenging part was managing the logistical details on the actual wedding day. "Did someone pin Grandpa's boutonniere?, Who has the garter?, etc." Meanwhile, the Type B side of my brain just wanted to relax and have fun. Having an organized personal attendant proved to be one of our greatest assets. She was the keeper of the almighty schedule and was able to keep our train moving on time.

Q. What advice would you give to other brides?
A. Always keep perspective. Remember that you are so fortunate to have found the love of your life and have this opportunity to celebrate. Try not to let differences in opinion, a minor setback, or the fact that the pastor called you 'Jeremy' during your ceremony (twice) threaten your love, excitement, and enthusiasm for one of the happiest days of your life. And of course, choose a wedding dress that is fun to dance in!
