I can’t decide if the best part about planning a wedding is finding the perfect dress, deciding on your wedding party, or sampling wedding cakes, but choosing the perfect colors for a wedding has to be one of my favorite parts! Finding colors that represent your personality and reflect your style can be so much fun. You can truly be creative in how you blend your colors together and make your accent colors pop. It can also be difficult though, and the styles seem to change every year. The eggplant color is so pretty, but does it work with your spring wedding? When is the best time to use claret as your primary color? We put together a guide to wedding colors by season, including our favorite bridesmaid dress colors. Some of the combinations might surprise you!
Picking the colors for your wedding can be some of the most fun or most challenging decisions! Choosing colors doesn’t have to be difficult though. When creating a color palette, think about your personal style and what inspires you. If you are spontaneous, adventurous, and creative consider an array of bright colors that will be sure to turn heads. If you love the outdoors, think about earthy tones such as browns and greens. Take some time thinking about what you love and want to see in your wedding pictures. Once you come up with one color, then you can start planning the rest of your palette around it!
Our first tip for your wedding palette is to consider the 60-30-10 rule, 60% of a primary color, 30% of a secondary color, and 10% of an accent color. Try not to pick too many colors because your wedding may become too chaotic, but we recommend having around three. You can use your primary color in the bridesmaid dresses, men’s attire, invitations, and décor elements. Secondary colors are great for the flowers, linens, décor, and bridal party accessories like shoes and ties! And last but not least accent colors can be used within flowers, centerpieces, other elements of the décor, and other highlight elements. The mismatched bridesmaid trend is a fun and easy way to mix all your colors, but some colors are easier to mix on your ‘maids than others. Spring
Spring weddings are beautiful! The fresh florals, sunny weather, and fun pastels set the stage for a gorgeous bride and wedding. Spring weddings usually consist of pastels such as sage, violet, blush, mint, rose petal, and light blues. A lot of the combinations from our summer color list can also be interchangeable with spring, depending on how early or late you are getting married!
Our favorite bridesmaid colors for spring are cornflower blue, sage, blush, mint, violet, and slate blue. These all fit the spring theme and are super cute! We compiled a list of some spring color combinations below:

Summer
Summer weddings are gorgeous with the fun venues, in-season florals, bright colors, and beautiful weather! Depending on how early or late in the summer you choose to have your wedding, you can also pick from the color sets on the spring or fall color lists as well. Summer weddings are always fun to have bright, popping colors such as coral, cornflower blue, or berry. The options are endless! Summer is also a great time to rock short dresses and the mismatched bridesmaid trend too!

Fall
Fall weddings are some of my favorite because of all the great colors and décor. The crisp, cool weather, combined with the amazing natural fall colors are a sure way to have a beautiful wedding. Muted or rich tones are often seen in fall weddings such as bordeaux, eggplant, browns, and oranges.

Winter
Bold, dark winter colors absolutely pop against the white snow of winter! Don’t be afraid to go dark with your colors, or experiment with some new trends by adding a colorful accent color. Either way, winter provides a unique opportunity for secondary and accent colors through cover-ups for you and your bridesmaids to stay warm!
